The most popular name in Slovenia is Marija. There are more than 60,000 of them here. For men, the most popular name is Franc, followed by Janez and Anton. Popular female names include Ana, Maja, Irena and Mojca. However, only one of those names is still in the top 5 of newborns and that’s Ana. The most popular baby name from 2005 to 2009 was Luka, followed Nika (for girls) and Jan, Sara, Nejc, Eva and Žan. Interestingly, the ten most popular names for babies recently born all have either three or four letters. None have five. Short and sweet, seems to be the motto.
